Reiki

Energy surrounds us. Energy is within us. Energy is life.

Reiki is the universal life force energy. Rei translates to universe or “god” power and Ki translates to “life force.” This energy is known by many names, for example: qi in China, ki in Japan and prana in India. Scientifically, it is known as the biofield energy.

Mikao Usui developed Reiki in Japan in 1922. Mikao Usui’s student, Chujiro Hayashi, initiated and trained Hawayo Takata who later introduced Reiki to the West in 1937. Since then, many branches have developed. I am certified and trained in the Usui Shiki Ryoho system. This is the system that has stayed true to the original practices of Hawayo Takata.

A typical Reiki session includes the client lying fully clothed on a massage table, chair or on a yoga mat (when combined with yoga therapy) while the Reiki practitioner gently lays hands on or above their body.

Reiki is deeply relaxing and works on multiple levels including the physical, emotional and spiritual.

Clients may feel warmth, a tingling sensation or a sense of release in specific areas as the energy works through. A feeling of radiating warmth throughout their body is often described. Effects from Reiki can last for hours to months after the session. It is most beneficial to have multiple sessions to release blocks, keep energy flowing freely and maintain overall wellness.

I use the traditional Reiki techniques to channel the energy flow and also teach clients how to manage their own energy. This creates the foundation for being more grounded, stable and self-aware.

Reiki Certification Training:

I am trained in both traditional and non-traditional Reiki. I teach my students the non-traditional method as it offers more tools, techniques, and symbols that I like to share with my students. The basic concepts, hand positions and original symbols of traditional Reiki are all included in these teachings.

Level One: Introduces you to Reiki and its history. You learn the hand positions for self-healing and are attuned with the first symbol. You learn about the energetic systems of the body and how to ground, protect and manage your own energy.

Level Two: You are taught and attuned with the symbols of Level Two. You learn how to channel energy and hand positions for energy work on others, distance healing, past life healing, emotional healing as well as many other techniques including energizing food and objects and clearing spaces.

Level Three: You are taught and attuned with the symbols for Level Three. Here you learn Chakra balancing, meditation, manifestation as well as many other techniques to enhance your practice.

Master Level: You are attuned with the Master Reiki Symbol. Here you learn how to teach Reiki, how to perform attunements and given time to refine your practice. Master attunement brings your energy work to a higher level. Some like to take this course even if they have no desire to teach as it creates a full experience and opens you to a higher level of energy channeling.
